Haïti was hit by a cholera epidemic claiming hundreds of victims.

The country’s infrastructure not having been repaired yet after the devastating earthquake of January 2010, the country was a breeding ground for epidemic disease. As the national health services were unable to manage the massive flood of patients, the Haitian government launched an international request for emergency relief.

The Belgian government decided to donate two water purification installations to the Haitian authorities. This contribution to international solidarity was carried out as a B-FAST intervention. The transfer of the emergency relief supplies was performed by the local EU representation.
