Floodings in Romania

In the night of 1 July to 2 July, heavy rainfall caused floodings and mud floods in the northeast of Romania. The government in Bucharest asked EU partners for assistance.

As a response, Belgium sent a B-FAST team of 9 people (8 members of the civilian protection and 1 paramedic) together with some equipment (5 generators, 8 motor pumps and a water purification installation), transported by road. A stop was made in Austria in order to take additional equipment on board.
The B-FAST team was in charge of setting up the water purification installation and of training the Romanian counterparts in the use and maintenance of the installation.
