Security Day 112
August, 30th 2013, Nieuwpoort
On initiative of the city of Nieuwpoort a first exhibition, Security Day 112, was organized. ‘Samenwerken aan veiligheid’ (cooperation on security) was the topic on which different actors in the field of rescue and emergency services showed their experiences of multilevel cooperation in different kinds of situations. Besides interactive demonstrations of equipment, many stands and vehicles were exhibited.
B-FAST was also present with a PR-module and its vehicles. Many visitors showed their interest for the functioning of B-FAST and its equipment. B-FAST is particularly known for its expeditions towards foreign countries, but nevertheless the proper set-up of B-FAST as a multidisciplinary cooperation (involving Ministries of Home Affairs, Defense , Public Health and Foreign Affairs) as well as the different modules (USAR, Field Hospital,…) remain largely unknown to the general public.
Visitors, organizers and participants agreed unanimously on the positive experience of this day and ideas for organizing a second edition in 2015 have already been launched.
