On February 16th , 2015, Belgium decided to send a humanitarian convoy with emergency relief supplies to Albania, responding to the request for relief items launched by the Albanian government via the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) of the European Commission.

Following extreme weather conditions, the south of Albania was hit by large floods leading to the evacuation of 600 families. More than 1.000 houses were damaged and 17.000 hectares of farmland were flooded.

After a meeting of the Planning Committee and with approval of the B-FAST Coordination Council, the decision was made to donate 100 tents, 100 winterization kits and 500 blankets to the Albanian authorities in order to respond to the flood disaster.

On February 17th, 2015, a humanitarian convoy left for Albania. The emergency relief supplies were delivered to a representative of the National Mechanism for Emergency Assistance of the Ministry of Interior at the Albanian border on February 20th, 2015. The delivered goods will be distributed depending on local needs.
